Júlia Véglesi

Júlia is on the Board of the Hungarian Association of British Alumni since 2017, and has been elected President of HABA since 2023.

​

Júlia is an ESG Researcher at Richmond Global Sciences (RGS), an ESG data provider startup that creates tools to help investors allocate capital sustainably. Before joining RGS, Julia gained experience in green project financing, sovereign bond issuance, and credit risk assessment as a Corporate & Investment Banking Analyst at Citibank, and in social venture capital financing as an Investment Manager at a pioneer CEE social impact fund, Impact Ventures. 

 

Júlia holds a BSc in economics from University College London. During her university years, she was involved in educational initiatives as a UCL Change Makers Scholar and a Mentor at Debate Mate. She was also active in various college societies and elected as Vice President of Competitions at UCL Business Society.

 

Júlia enjoys organizing motivational community events, mentoring university students, and doing triathlon. 

 Zoltán Marosi
Legal Affairs 

Zoltán is on the Board of the Hungarian Association of British Alumni since 2017.

​

Zoltán is a partner at Oppenheim Law Firm, responsible mainly for antitrust and EU law matters. He has authored numerous professional articles and produced a wealth of academic literature in the area of antitrust and EU law.

​

He graduated from the Eötvös Loránd University School of Law and then earned a Magister Juris (MJur) degree in European and Comparative Law from the University of Oxford as a Chevening scholar.

Dr. Éva Sáfár
Communications

Éva joined the HABA Board in 2019. 

​

Éva is a Computational Linguist currently working for a Hungarian-American start-up, SignAll, as a researcher/developer.

 

After graduating at the Humboldt University in Berlin, she worked as an assistant lecturer. Later, she got a  PhD in German Linguistics at ELTE and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence at Edinburgh University. 

​

Prior to her current job, she worked in international EU projects as a Senior Research Associate at UEA in Norwich and as a Natural Language Processing Engineer in London. Her major research field is Sign Language modelling .

​

Éva supported the Deaf community in London by volunteering as a Communication Support Worker and interpreter for Deaf and Hard of Hearing job seekers and college students.

​

In her free time she likes walking, volunteering for the Red Cross and her book club. She is a mother of three.

Máté Martin
Treasurer 

Máté is on the Board of the Hungarian Association of British Alumni since 2017.

​

Máté is currently the Purchasing Manager of an automotive manufacturing plant in Hungary. Before joining the automotive industry, he started his career in corporate banking in Budapest.

 

He read International relations at Surrey, then Political Economy at the London School of Economics. During his studies he spent a year in Brazil learning Portuguese. 

 

Máté enjoys learning languages, hiking, sailing and playing tennis.

Máté Martin
Treasurer 

Máté is on the Board of the Hungarian Association of British Alumni since 2017.

​

He is currently Vice President at MP Corporate Finance, a boutique M&A advisory in Vienna.

 

He read International relations at Surrey, then Political Economy at the London School of Economics. During his studies he spent a year in Brazil learning Portuguese. 

 

Máté enjoys learning languages, hiking, sailing and playing tennis.

Zsófia Dombi

Zsófia joined the HABA Board in 2023.

​

Zsófia received her bachelor's and master's degrees from University College London where she studied Human Sciences and Clinical Mental Health Sciences, respectively.

 

Currently she works at Gedeon Richter Plc. as Senior Global Medical Advisor. In addition she is doing a Doctor in Philosophy degree at University of Oxford in the field of Psychiatry. Throughout her career she published several scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals.

 

Given her interest in mental health, she founded the first well-being programme at Richter which already won two HR awards. In 2021, TALENTn featured her as one of the 50 most talented young Hungarians.

Z. Elemér Gidófalvy
Senior Adviser

Elemér was the President of the Hungarian Association of British Alumni between 2016 and 2023. Now he provides continuous guidance and advice as the Board’s Senior Adviser.

 

Elemér serves as Senior Adviser to Wood & Company, a prominent regional investment bank. Previously he was Founding Shareholder, Board Member and Group CFO of TritonLife, Hungary’s presently no.1 private healthcare provider, and also Co-founder of Invescom, one of the country’s leading independent M&A houses. In the past 25 years, Elemér has worked in London and Budapest in different investment banking and private equity roles, was Chairman and CEO of Creditanstalt Investment Bank (later Unicredit CAIB) Hungary between 2007 and 2013, and also served as Partner at regional Private Equity Group PortfoLion Capital Partners. His previous employers also include Credit Suisse First Boston and MeesPierson EurAmerica.

 

Elemér graduated from Trinity College, University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences, Physics and Theoretical Physics in 1993, and was a receiver of both Cambridge Overseas Trust and Trinity College Bursaries. In addition to HABA, Elemér serves on the  Supervisory Board of the Order of Malta Charity Service, on the Advisory Board of the Pannonhalma Benedictine Archabbey Asset Holding Company, and is a Founding Board Member of the Cambridge-Oxford Alumni Club of Hungary.
